About

Georgina Docherty

Originally from Warsash near Southampton, I moved to London after studying Textile Design at University.

I had various jobs within the Art/Fashion industry before making the decision to move to the Dorset/Somerset border. I now work on my Art full time. I am enjoying he connection to nature here in Dorset and feel this reflects within my work.

Mostly I work with lino to create my pieces, however coming from a textiles background I also love working with watercolour and acrylic for more intricate artwork.

My Work...

I specialise in lino printing, using techniques I first learnt at university and have further developed my skills over time. Each print is different, unique even, all hand-printed by me on my favourite 100% long fibred cotton rag paper (100gsm).

Generally I draw inspiration from my immediate surroundings – the ‘ from the pantry’ series is a reflection of the food from the garden and the local produce for sale, both at the roadside and also nearby farm shops.

What I am working on...

Currently I am planning markets for 2024 as well as some more workshops at Symondsbury Estate.

I am also thinking about Christmas ’24 – yes already it’s in the back of my mind what to do for Christmas – a stationery line, perhaps a set of Christmas cards and hand painted baubles of course!

What I have been up to...

This year I have sold my work at Battersea Power Station and Gipsy Hill Brewery with Salad Days Market, both events were amazing and it was so great to meet customers and other small business owners.
